Surface Profile Gauge

    surface-profile-gauge-sfg-001

The Surface Profile Gauge measures the peak-to-valley height of a blast cleaned surface. The average of a series of measurements provides an indication of the surface roughness and allows the surfaces to be compared as blasting proceeds.

The Surface Profile Gauge can be used in accordance with the following National and International Standards: ASTM D 4417-B, SANS 5772, US Navy NSI 009-32, US Navy PPI 63101-000.

The gauge is initially set to zero with the glass zero plates and the foot is then placed on the blasted profile. The foot sits on top of the peaks and the sharp stylus travels to the bottom of the valley, allowing the gauge to display the peak to valley height. A number of measurements can be made and the average was taken.

In addition, the gauge can also be used to measure the effects of corrosion, i.e. pitting and cavity depth, etc.
